Colorado Real Estate Broker: CE & renewal requirements

24 CE contact hours every 3 years

3-year cycle. Colorado has NO 'salesperson' license — all agents are brokers. An initial license expires Dec 31 of its issue year (a short stub period).

Source: Colorado DORA — Division of Real Estate · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.

Required topics

First renewal & exemptions

No CE during the initial stub period; the full 24 hours apply from the first full 3-year renewal.

If your license lapses

Inactive/expired over 3 years requires either the state exam portion or 72 hours of education to reinstate. Keep proof for 4 years.

How CE is tracked

Attest and renew online via the DORA Division of Real Estate; keep certificates 4 years.

Watch out: Colorado has NO salesperson license — everyone is a broker — and the 12 update hours must be THREE DIFFERENT annual versions (you can't repeat one year's course three times).
