Florida Certified Public Accountant: CE & renewal requirements

80 CE contact hours every 2 years

80 hours per 2-year period. CPE must be completed by June 30; the license renews by December 31 of the renewal year.

Source: Florida Board of Accountancy (DBPR) · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.

Required topics

First renewal & exemptions

The first period is prorated for newly licensed CPAs (confirm the exact table with the Board).

If your license lapses

Miss June 30 and Florida grants two extensions paid in extra A&A hours (to Sept 15 with +8 A&A; to Dec 31 with +16 A&A); fail by Dec 31 and the license becomes delinquent.

How CE is tracked

Reported via DBPR/MyFloridaLicense at renewal; subject to Board audit.

Watch out: Two split deadlines trip people up: CPE is due June 30 but the license renews Dec 31 — and the penalty extensions cost extra A&A hours, not just a fee. Ethics must be Florida-board-approved.
