Florida Dental Hygienist: CE & renewal requirements
24 CE contact hours every 2 years
Biennial — licenses expire Feb 28 of even-numbered years.
Source: Florida Board of Dentistry (Dept. of Health) · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- 2 hrs Prevention of Medical Errors
- 2 hrs HIV/AIDS (by first renewal)
- 2 hrs Domestic Violence (every third biennium)
- CPR/BLS current (does NOT count)
First renewal & exemptions
Volunteer/pro-bono and teaching credits are available.
If your license lapses
Miss the deadline and the license goes delinquent; two missed cycles make it null & void (reactivation needs fees + CE).
How CE is tracked
Tracked via CE Broker; report/verify through your MQA Online Services account.
Watch out: The 24 is the TOTAL — mandated courses count inside it, not on top — and domestic violence is only every third renewal. CPR is required but earns zero CE.
