Florida Registered Nurse: CE & renewal requirements
24 CE contact hours every 2 years
Every 2 years.
Source: Florida Board of Nursing · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- 2 hrs Prevention of Medical Errors
- 2 hrs Florida Laws & Rules
- Human trafficking (one-time)
- 2 hrs Domestic Violence (every third renewal)
First renewal & exemptions
First-renewal new grads may be exempt from the general hours, but mandated topics can still apply — verify your case.
If your license lapses
A non-renewed license becomes delinquent, then inactive; reactivation requires completing the back CE.
How CE is tracked
Florida uses CE Broker as the official CE record, and the Board checks it at renewal — not just on audit.
Watch out: Your hours must actually be in CE Broker. A certificate on your desk doesn't count if CE Broker is empty at renewal.
