Florida Veterinarian: CE & renewal requirements
30 CE contact hours every 2 years
Biennial — a 2-year renewal cycle.
Source: Florida Board of Veterinary Medicine (DBPR) · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- 1 hr Dispensing legend drugs
- 2 hrs Laws & rules of veterinary practice
First renewal & exemptions
No CE is required before your first renewal.
If your license lapses
Active renewal needs the 30 hours; false certification or a shortfall brings disciplinary action.
How CE is tracked
Self-certify on renewal; keep certificates at least 3 years.
Watch out: Only 15 of the 30 hours may be non-interactive/correspondence, and the 1-hr legend-drugs + 2-hr laws/rules are often bundled and overlooked as a separate mandate.
