Michigan Real Estate Salesperson: CE & renewal requirements
18 CE contact hours every 3 years
Triennial; your expiration is individualized to your original license date (no longer the old fixed Oct 31).
Source: Michigan LARA — Board of Real Estate Brokers & Salespersons · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- At least 2 hrs/year in real estate law, rules & cases (6 over the cycle)
- At least 1 hr/year fair housing (3 over the cycle)
- At least 2 CE hours in EACH of the 3 years
First renewal & exemptions
No separate post-licensing course for salespersons; the first renewal uses the same 18-hour rule.
If your license lapses
There's about a 60-day grace period after expiration; beyond that, relicensure/reinstatement is required.
How CE is tracked
Providers report completions to CE Marketplace; renew online via LARA MiPLUS.
Watch out: Per-YEAR minimums (2 law + 1 fair housing, and at least 2 hours each year) mean you can't cram all 18 into year three — and expiration dates are now individualized, so the old 'Oct 31' rule is wrong for many.
