Required topics

First renewal & exemptions

Newly licensed CPAs are prorated; inactive/exempt statuses are reduced — confirm with the Board.

If your license lapses

Annual Dec 31 renewal has no grace period; non-compliance triggers fees and a non-compliance status.

How CE is tracked

Report CPE and renew via the MN Board system by Dec 31; keep documentation 5 years.

Watch out: Rolling 3-year window + annual Dec 31 renewal + July–June reporting year is a tripwire — you must satisfy both the 120/3-yr and 20/yr tests every renewal, with no carry-forward.
