New Jersey Pharmacist: CE & renewal requirements
30 CE contact hours every 2 years
Biennial, on a fixed statewide cycle.
Source: New Jersey Board of Pharmacy · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- 3 hrs Pharmacy law
- 10 hrs live/didactic instruction
- 1 hr Prescription opioids
- Immunizers: 2 hrs immunization
First renewal & exemptions
No CE for your first renewal (this exemption doesn't apply to reciprocity/transfer pharmacists).
If your license lapses
Practicing on an expired license is prohibited; reinstatement needs back fees and likely CE makeup.
How CE is tracked
Self-attest; ACPE providers; CPE Monitor where supported; keep certificates for audit.
Watch out: Up to 10 credits carry over only if earned in the last 6 months of the prior cycle — but the 1-hour opioid credit can NEVER carry over and must be earned fresh each cycle.
