New York Pharmacist: CE & renewal requirements

45 CE contact hours every 3 years

Triennial, by the last day of your birth month; at least 23 of the 45 hours must be LIVE.

Source: NYSED Office of the Professions — State Board for Pharmacy · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.

Required topics

First renewal & exemptions

No new-licensee exemption — you're subject to CE in your first triennial period (prorated by month if it's short).

If your license lapses

Failing to complete required CE before the period ends can mean prosecution for professional misconduct.

How CE is tracked

Self-certify under penalty of perjury at triennial renewal; keep certificates for audit.

Watch out: More than half the hours (23 of 45) must be LIVE, and the two NY-specific 3-hour topics (error reduction + compounding) are frequently missed. There's no new-grad exemption.
