Ohio Pharmacist: CE & renewal requirements

30 CE contact hours every 2 years

Biennial — CE earned in the 2 years before the Sept 15 renewal.

Source: State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.

Required topics

First renewal & exemptions

Reduced requirement for new licensees obtaining an initial license in even years (20 hours, with 1 hr each in jurisprudence and safety).

If your license lapses

The license must be renewed by the deadline; a lapse requires reinstatement and CE makeup.

How CE is tracked

ACPE-accredited (or approved) providers; Ohio uses CPE Monitor / NABP e-Profile for electronic reporting.

Watch out: Ohio is 30 contact hours, NOT 40 — a widely-cached third-party copy of the rule wrongly says 40; the official code (amended Mar 2024) says 30.
