Ohio Real Estate Salesperson: CE & renewal requirements
30 CE contact hours every 3 years
Triennial (every 3 years), by your date of birth.
Source: Ohio Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- 3 hrs Civil Rights
- 3 hrs Core Law
- 3 hrs Canons of Ethics
First renewal & exemptions
First renewal: a 20-hour Post-License course is due within one year of licensure (separate from, and earlier than, the first renewal); the full 30-hour CE isn't due for the first renewal.
If your license lapses
Missing CE or renewal suspends the license; restoration requires the CE plus fees.
How CE is tracked
Renew online via Ohio eLicense; keep proof for 6 years in case of audit.
Watch out: The 20-hour Post-License course is a strict 12-month-from-licensure deadline, separate from your first renewal — miss it and the license can go inactive even though the 3-year CE clock hasn't run. The required topic is 'Civil Rights,' not generic fair housing.
