24 CE contact hours every 2 years

Biennial — all RNs renew in odd years (license period runs Sept of one odd year through Aug 31 two years later); the license lapses Nov 1 if not renewed.

If not renewed by the deadline the license lapses Nov 1 and you may not practice; reinstatement requires application, fees, and meeting CE for the period.

How CE is tracked

Renew online via Ohio eLicense and attest; proof isn't uploaded but the Board may request it on audit. Keep records ~6 years.

Watch out: The Category A hour is uniquely Ohio — generic national CE doesn't satisfy it; you specifically need an hour on Ohio nursing law (Chapter 4723), which out-of-state CE bundles routinely miss.
