Pennsylvania Pharmacist: CE & renewal requirements
30 CE contact hours every 2 years
Biennial — renewal date September 30 of odd-numbered years.
Source: Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy · confirmed 2026-06. Requirements change — always verify with the board.
Required topics
- 2 hrs Patient safety
- 2 hrs Child abuse recognition & reporting (provider need not be ACPE)
- 2 hrs Injectable medications/immunizations — only if authorized to administer
First renewal & exemptions
No CE required for the first renewal after initial licensure.
If your license lapses
Practicing on a lapsed license is prohibited; reinstatement needs back CE and fees.
How CE is tracked
ACPE-accredited providers (except the child-abuse course); keep certificates 2 years. The Board audits ~5% of renewals; CPE Monitor tracks ACPE hours.
Watch out: The 2-hr child-abuse requirement is non-ACPE and frequently forgotten, and there's no general law/jurisprudence hour.
