Required topics

First renewal & exemptions

First renewal: two Commission-developed 7-hour modules (a General module + a Residential or Commercial module) instead of general CE; licensed under 6 months before the deadline is exempt that cycle.

If your license lapses

No grace period — paying the $5/month administrative fee does NOT let you keep working; practicing or taking commission on an expired license is unlicensed activity. Reactivate within 5 years with CE, else re-exam.

How CE is tracked

Approved providers report to the Commission via PALS; renew online at pals.pa.gov.

Watch out: There's literally no grace period past May 31, and paying the late administrative fee does NOT authorize you to keep practicing — a common, costly misunderstanding.
